What is a BSN?
A Burger Service Nummer (BSN) is the Dutch citizen identification number — like a social security number. It's 8 or 9 digits and used for taxes, healthcare, and government services.
How is it validated?
BSN uses the Dutch "elfproef" (11-proof): each digit is multiplied by a weight (9 down to 2, then −1 for the last), and the total must be divisible by 11. This catches most typos instantly.
Is my data safe?
